Meet Little Mister

Hello Everyone!
I know that my posts are few and far between but this time I have a really good excuse. Meet Little Mister. This is out little man, Henry. He is the sweetest thing that could have happened to our life.
So let's be honest. My attitude during pregnancy was... not ideal. It wasn't that I wasn't excited to have a baby and become a mother. It was more that I felt blah and withdrew myself from my world. It was hard for me (and definitely for Mitch) but we got through it and now I am feeling like myself again and would like to share with you cute little things about our little boy.
After 26 hours of labor, the last 4 hours were pushing Henry was a stubborn little man and would not come on his own. So after all of that we were told that I would need a C-section. Honestly it was a little disheartening after all that work, but when you are that exhausted you really don't care. Henry was born on Dec 14 at 5:17 pm and weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. He has TONS of hair and can already hold his head up. He's such a strong little boy. We had quite a long stay in the hospital which was nice because we were able to get the hang of things with the help of a wonderful medical staff before we took Henry home. And we ended up there an extra day because he was jaundiced and needed to lights to get his biliruben levels down. But after that we were able to come home and figure things out together. Mitch happened to be on Winter break and helped out SO much! After having the C-section I couldn't do much. In fact I bet it was almost two weeks before I changed a diaper.
Recovering from the C-section took me about 6 weeks. Learning about our little man took almost as long. Disclaimer: We are still learning! Luckily we had some great advice from a dear friend about how to get Henry on a schedule. Once we did that it has changed everything. We are able to get things done and have some time to ourselves. Also it has our little man so happy to have a schedule and helps us look like we know what we are doing.
My favorite thing about Henry is his LONG feet. Seriously this kid will take after Mitch in height. (and now that he's growing up and getting 'thick', as I call it, Mitch is hoping for another Offensive Lineman. :)
One of the coolest things is to watch Mitch with Henry. Not only does he love him but Henry responds so well to Mitch. Mitch tickles him and Henry smiles, laughs and coos. Henry follows Mitch with his eyes ALL the time. He loves his Daddy so much! Henry has the biggest smiles. When I can catch one on film I will post it. He is staying awake much more and being more interactive with us.
Being a mom is one of the coolest things I have ever done and I would do anything for our little man. I am so grateful that he is here and is healthy. I am also SO incredibly thankful for a wonderful husband who is supportive and so incredibly helpful. I love my boys SO much!

Baby Update

Hey everyone! I know it has been such a long time since we've logged in. It's been a busy couple of months! Not only has football season started but we have ran a few races, moved into a new house and found out WE'RE EXPECTING!!
Most of you already know these things but I thought we should catch up online to make it all official. :)
So back in April, Mitch and I celebrated our 1st Anniversary! We spent the weekend in California with 11 of our closest friends and ran the SoCal Ragnar! We went to Disneyland, California Adventure and Ruby's Diner. We had an incredible time with everyone as we tried our best to keep our secret.
Let's back up 1 week. April 7th I woke up and had been dreaming all night off and on that I had taken a pregnancy test. Once it said positive the next negative. So I went to take a test (because I'd never dreamed like that) and it said 'Pregnant'! I walked into the other room and motioned for Mitch to follow me. He followed me into the bathroom, saw the test and said, 'Could it be wrong?' I did a little research and found out it could not. So we were expecting!! (We were wanting to start a family, it just caught us off guard as it happened SO quickly)
So back in California as we started getting ready for the race we came up with all these gameplans on how to keep it a secret. Like if I got hungry, Mitch would take the spotlight as if he were starving. Luckily when running a race like that eating and drinking a lot are not a problem. And when we went to Disneyland we let my sister in on the secret. We needed an ally so that Mitch, who LOVES Disneyland and everyone knows it, could ride all the rides without suspicion while my sister and I ran off to ride a kiddy ride that was pregnant women appropriate. So thank you Anna for being such a good sport!

Now for baby details. So we are expecting a baby boy for this coming December!! So after every appt I assure Mitch that it is indeed a boy. We went through our first appt's the Dr kept saying, 'It looks like a girl.' Then we went and saw Emily Graham who works for Fetal Fotos and paid for an extra ultrasound. The whole way there Mitch kept saying, 'I can't believe we are paying to know what we already know.' convinced that we were having a girl. Emily tried and tried to get the baby to move to a good position and he is stubborn! But after about 20 minutes our little baby finally moved to a good position. She paused the screen and said, 'Are you ready to find out?' At this point I was super nervous and, not going to lie, started sweating but answered, 'yes.' Then she announced, 'It's a BOY!' Ha ha! I was laughing and Mitch stared in unbelief. It was pretty hilarious. We finally got through the shock of it and now are just enjoying pregnancy.
We have been super fortunate. From our appt's we have found out that: 1. It is a boy 2. From all the tests he is healthy 3. My body is handling it well 4. His head, abdomen and legs are all measuring in the higher 90th percentile. So to wrap it up we will have a baby that takes after Mitch. :)

Now a little more on the latest in our lives. Football season is in full swing. Every Friday night we are out supporting the Syracuse Titans! They are doing well this season. We've had one loss but will be fighting back hard this week. Every Saturday we look forward to the Utah Utes games. Loving what they are doing with their season and getting super excited to go to the alumni game together. Sitting together at the Alumni game will be the 2nd time I get to sit next to Mitch for a love game. I am looking forward to it! Then our Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays we are constantly flipping back and forth through the channels to catch some NFL games. So if you need the latest updates on what's going on, let us know!

In August Mitch's brother and sister in law finally got to meet their little bundle of joy!! They welcomed Audrey Lee Arquette into the world. She is absolutely adorable and so much fun! Also she is the best baby ever. We are hoping that they didn't take all the good baby genes because we have one coming next. But Congratulations to Talon and Rochelle!

The last of the big news that we have is that we moved into our first home! It is wonderful! We are loving having our own place and the neighbors that we have are incredible. We definitely lucked out. I am getting some photos together of our new place as we get things set into place. A quick shout out to Cindy Arquette for getting all of our painting done. She came in and got it done for us so I didn't have to be around the fumes. So thank you!! We are getting our nursery into place and I will post some pictures as we get that done.

As I posted for Mitch, football has been a huge part of our lives lately. A big part of my life lately has been photography. I am learning the ropes and I'm super appreciative for all of the opportunities I am receiving. So here are a few of my favorite engagements and bridals for a couple (whom I LOVE dearly) that were recently married.

This is Jake and Sierra. Jake was in our student ward at the U. He found the love of his life and were married on Oct 14. We are so happy for them!

I also shot their wedding. It was a blast! Not only was the bride gorgeous and the groom handsome, the weather was beautiful and we were surrounded by their amazing families and friends. Thank you for letting us be a part of your big day!

Oh my! So lately Mitch and I have been up to so much! Titan football takes a lot of our time. Mitch is still coaching and loving every minute of it. Tonight will be our last game of the season and then we're off to playoffs. Any of you that have been to a game have seen these emotions on Mitch's face. For those of you that haven't been (you should most definitely come) but here is what you see. :)

There are a few faces that are missing here. One of him giving instructions to players, and the other of him yelling, using a stern voice if you will. Football is one thing I love about Mitch. He knows the game inside and out. Granted I don't know a lot, but he can make calls before the officials and he studies every play. Football has made Mitch who he is today and we are extremely grateful for our experiences with it.

So thank you to all of you who have come out to support Mitch at the games. It is very much appreciated. And those of you that have missed out this season, don't you worry. There will be several more seasons where you can catch a game.

Yellowstone National Park

The Wonders of Yellowstone

A few weeks ago Mitch and I decided to make one last summer trip before football season started. It was a much needed trip and ended up being exactly what we needed. We stayed at Mack Inn in Island Park, right on the river front. It was absolutely beautiful!!! Our favorite part was that there was no TV or radio. We ended up playing cards a lot. Mitch taught me how to play Gin. It was awesome!! We ended up about equal with each other in wins and losses. :) (although Mitch may tell you differently)

Mitch's goal was to see some buffalo. And that we did!! This one above this was RIGHT off the trail!! The ones below this were across a river and right next to this mudpot. Seriously they just hung out and sat right by it as it bubbled. SO COOL!!

Mitch took this photo of the buffalo and it's one of my favorites!! I think it is so majestic! It had just rolled around in the dirt and was getting up.

We had to set the self timer but we got the shot. This is inside our motel room at Mack's Inn. We will definitely be going back next year!

This is Mitch's favorite photo from the trip. This was just outside our front door and the Inn. The river was gorgeous. Slow moving and so calming.

Some of the next photos are pictures from all over the park. They are the ones that I liked the most, so I decided to post them. If you haven't been to Yellowstone, I recommend that you go. Not only is it gorgeous, but the animals are incredible and it's so fun to see God's creations in the way they were created. Also it is SO mysterious!! And very fun to learn about..

'The Moose' has been the most talked about part of our trip!! This bull moose walked right in between our cabins! I was in the shower and Mitch came running in asking for the camera. This moose came walking right through camp and we had to get some pictures. It was SO amazing!! I hurried out and made sure that Mitch got some pictures with 'The Moose'.

To end our story. Yellowstone was incredible! Everything was beautiful, the weather was perfect and we were surrounded by this great earth. So to end I will share a tidbit of wisdom that Mitch and I both learned on this trip. Yellowstone was named because of the 'Yellow' Stone. The rocks have a yellow tint to them and when the mountain men explored it that's what they named it. Simple yet true.

The Most Wonderful Wedding!

The day we've all been waiting for is here! Our wedding photos came! We are very happy with how they turned out and we had an extremely great time reliving our day through the pictures and memories we had. It started with an incredible brunch at the University of Utah's Alumni House. Which was perfect for us because Mitch had spent so much time there in college.

After brunch Mitch and I headed to the temple. It was such a surreal feeling. So many feelings. Anxiety, calmness, excited, nervousness, happiness, an invigorating feeling, a dazed feeling but the most common was unbelief. It was unbelievable to think, 'Today, I will marry my best friend.' That line is so cliche and common but for us so very true.

We had a wonderful temple ceremony!!! Elder Jensen conducted the ceremony and did an incredible job. My favorite part of the entire day was how catered to us his words of counsel were. Thank you to some of our closest friends and family who were there to share it with us.

After the ceremony we walked around the temple taking these photos taken by Brooke. She did an excellent job with our photos. Thank you Brooke! It was such a fairytale day. The weather was overcast with a slight breeze. Also the weather was just warm enough that with my short sleeves I wasnt' cold! :) And with anyone who knows me, knows that it's a good thing. I get kind of cranky when I'm cold. Sorry babe, but you already said, 'yes.'

After pictures Mitch and I drove around trying to find something to eat and settled for Jimmy Johns which ended up being the best dinner ever!! After dinner we headed to the reception. We had our reception at the Salt Lake City and County Building. It was gorgeous!! We rented out the third and fourth floor. Our guests rode the elevator to the fourth floor and took their photo in the photo booth and signed our book. Then they came down the stairs where they could see our incredible cake!! THANK YOU ADAM MAGALEI!!! It was the most amazing cake!! And it tasted fantastic! Marble cake with apricot filling. We had great tunes, thanks to Mitch, great friends, and our fabulous families. (who are shown in the next two photos)

Thank you to everyone who helped out and made our day the best ever!! We are so fortunate to have such wonderful friends and family. Also thank you to my wonderful husband!! 3 months later and we're still in love! (even on my crazy days. Admit it girls, we all have them.)

This 4th of July weekend was such a blast!! We had a lot of family time. We have been counting our blessings with how fortunate we are to have such incredible families! It started with a late night of Rummikub with Mitch's parents, then onto the parade with my family.

I love this photo of Mitch and Addie!! She LOVES him! And she loves walking! She started taking her first steps a couple days before this!

Anna and Libby were having a great time, selling suckers and running around. My mom makes suckers every year to sell on the 4th during West Bountiful's parade. As kids we use to run the stand and this year Libby called the shots and helped out all the customers. She had so much fun!

The rest of the day was filled with yummy food and several laughs. We had delicious steaks with the Arquette family. Then off to fireworks at Davis High. After much cotton candy, soccer shoot outs and several oohs and aahs, we headed off to light some fireworks of our own. Rod and Cindy (my inlaws) had purchased some amazing fireworks! They were fun and shot high into the air! It was so funny to watch the boys light the fireworks and take off running! The fireworks ended up coming to an abrupt stop when one that was lit (without a stand we found out later) shot high into the air, then into the neighbors bushes, the third hit Rochelle on the inside thigh part of her leg where it fell to the ground and exploded on the blanket I had on my legs, then the last two chased Mitch and Weston off their seats and into a full run!! Luckily no one was hurt and no fires started. We have however nicknamed that firework, 'The crotch rocket.'

Onto the Rodeo!!
So Mitch and I bought this new amazing camera!! After a few debates with Mitch on how he won't take any pictures he took some INCREDIBLE photos!! Here are a few of our favorites:

This is the man I married!!!!
Let me take a few minutes to tell you about our weekend. Friday morning 6 AM was the start of THC's journey from Logan to Park City. The Wasatch Back is a 188.2 mile running race! Twelve runners take up the pavement and a few trails. There is exhaustion, sleep deprivation, loads of conversations, encouragement and laughter. This was my 3rd Ragnar Relay Race and Mitch Rocked #1!!
I am so proud of his hard work and perseverance! Mitch's first leg was 7 miles! He rocked it Hardcore! When the race was finished he'd totaled 13.2 miles.
(and the best part is he said he'd do it again!!)

This photo is Mitch hard at work during his second leg. It was a 3 mile run and ONE OF THE HARDEST because of the weather! The thermostat read 85 degrees but you have to add hot pavement to the temp. Great job babe!

Mitch has informed me that he will continue wearing his medal for the next few months!! :) This was a fantastic experience and we give a special shout out to Team Hardcore for being so awesome! The preparation for WB 2011 starts now! So if you see us out running give us a honk or a wave!

Graduation and Croquet

Congratulations Class of 2010!!!
The first class of Seniors graduated from Syracuse High School! We are very proud of them and we are very excited to be a part of the many more graduations to come!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROE!!!
This last week we celebrated Roe's birthday. She turned 27! And along with a coveted Slap Chop (as seen on TV) we played a competitive game of croquet.

We are TITANS!!!

This is the BEST news we've had lately!! As most of you know 3 days after we got home from our honeymoon Mitch was told that he wouldn't have a job as a teacher next year. A few days ago we received word that they were opening a new position at Syracuse and wanted to hire Mitch back!! So for the 2010-2011 year Coach Arquette will be back!! So all of you football fans plan on coming to see a game one Friday night this Fall.
(also a quick thank you for all the great thoughts and prayers for us that things would work out. We LOVE and appreciate you!!)

Onto Married Life

We have been trying to wait out posting a blog until we received our wedding photos, however I have heard some chatter about just getting a post up! :) Here we go!!
We have had a ton of things going on in newly married life. Being married is AMAZING!!! There are a million things we are getting used to. Some of the things we adjusting to is living with a member of the opposite sex. OK. This is difficult!! Mitch likes to make the bed, I don't!! I like my flavor of toothpaste. I love girl movies and court TV, Mitch LOVES sports center! :) Luckily no arguments have started over any of these silly things but it is fun to learn all these quirks about each other. :)

A few weeks ago we celebrated Mitch's birthday. We had yummy food, great company, saw a guy movie (Robin Hood) and out to dinner. Also, my favorite part of the night was the weenie hat and twinkie cake!! Talon (Mitch's brother) and Rod (Mitch's Dad) sported the hat after dinner and as we sang Happy Birthday to the birthday boy!!

HAPPY 29th my fantastic husband!!!

Our Engagement Photos

I LOVE this first photo!! It is so boy meets girl and it makes me smile! Mitch and I had some interesting little conversations in between shots and Brooke was a sweetheart and talked us through a few.

In this next one I love that it is just totally us. Laughing and smiling because we feel like we are acting so completely ridiculous!
In the last one we're featuring today Mitch insisted that we take some pictures in 'church clothes'. Begrudgingly I took the photos in nice clothes and some of them ended up being my favorites!! (Don't tell Mitch)

For these shots Brooke took us to another abandoned house and we walked all the way around it. I am amazed at how she found these shots! All of them were taken on the grounds and we got some that look like Winter and some Summer. Looking over these with Mitch got us SO super excited for our wedding day! 3 WEEKS!!!
So we have lots of changes in the next few weeks but we are excited and ready to accept the challenge. New place, in-laws, new rules and lots of fun!! We will keep you posted as we start on these new and exciting times. 3 WEEKS!!!

Bridals

When Mitch proposed I asked him what he wanted for our wedding. He said, 'All I want is portrait of you in your dress.' Mitch hasn't seen my dress (due to tradition) but in this photo you can't see my dress so I knew I could post this for all of you!
Just to fill you in on how the shoot went. IT WAS FREEZING!!!! It was a cold day in February but the sun did manage to peak out for a few minutes. She took me to an old broken down home and we took a lot outside of it and then went in! There was a tombstone on the floor in the living room!! It was a little creepy! Then after a few pictures there we went to an old cherry orchard and took some there.
My photographer is wonderful!! Her name is Brooke Kinsey and she does an excellent job! Not only is she fun to shoot with but the work that she does is exceptional!! I am so pleased and more pictures are to come!!

Vegas Weekend!

Mitch and I went to Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. It was a much needed vacation. We turned our phones off and spent a lot of time together!! Ken took us to the strip and we walked around and saw some awesome things! We snagged a few photos and here they are:

Ken is showing us the airplane he is going to own someday!! ;) I can't wait to fly in it!!! Ken took us to watch the planes fly in. They come in SO close to us! At one point they were flying directly over us to land. It was awesome to watch Mitch kinda freak out a little and move out of the way of the plane flying in. It was awesome!! :)
So I made Mitch jump for this photo with me. I am a big nerd and I LOVE jumping pictures!!! Mitch is a great sport and is always up for trying new things with me.

So the point of this trip was for a coaching conference for the coaches at Syracuse High School. It was great! Mitch learned some great things for the team this year. He learned some new drills and a few new ways to execute some plays this year. (I don't really understand it all yet, but Im learning!) Also Mitch ran into an old coach. It was so great to hear him talk about it!! He was beaming about the things he remembered learning from him and he gave Mitch some great ideas! Just from all the football talk we are both super excited for this football season to watch the team play. Truth be told I LOVE watching Mitch coach, so I'm pumped. GO TITANS!!

28 DAYS!!

28 days until the big day!! We are almost completely done with all the wedding planning! The last things are our engagement photos this weekend!! We are so excited to be working with Brooke. It'll be great to have the last of our things checked off the list!

Also this weekend I get my bridals!! I am so pumped to see the photos!! I will post a few when I get them.

So we've had a busy couple of weeks and just a few more. Mitch has been super busy with school getting a business day going. The teachers in the group DOMINATED it!! And the students loved it! For this business day the teachers set up guest speakers from all different business areas and then they set up break out sessions for the students to go to. The teachers had to work really hard to get everything together but at the end of the day the students and the staff had a great time!!

Also Mitch was a part of the school pie eating contest!! (I wish I could've been there) It was 10 minutes of stuffing their faces with little banana cream pies with whipped cream on top. Mitch took 2nd! He ate 17 pies!!!!! Go team Mitch!

Also recently we went shooting black powder guns with my dad. It was SO FUN!! And Mitch had a blast!! Mitch has never been shooting before and I think he's hooked now. :) This first photo is the black powder that Mitch had spilled while loading the gun. (it wasn't just Mitch though, my dad helped a little)

It was so fun! And both of these two shot great!!! I can't wait until the snow is gone and we all get to go again!! Easter Rendezvous is coming up so we will see how much Mitch loves it then. Posts soon to come!! :)

Christmas this year was fantastic!! We were fortunate enough to spend time with both our families. From wrapping presents to Star Wars and Nerf guns to Nutella I'd say our Christmas vacation was a success!!

On Christmas Eve we went to my parents to spend a quiet evening at home. While hanging out there we decided to watch Elf. ( one of the best Christmas movies ever!!) Mitch and I laid down on the floor to watch the show and after a little bit my niece Libby decided that she wanted to be like us! It was so super cute! Libby ADORES Mitch! In fact it's not 'Trissy and Mitch' anymore, I'll be talking on the phone to her and it's 'Mitch and Trissy'
Ok and this is my favorite!! This is Libby telling us who is coming tonight and what he says. (Christmas Eve) But how excited she gets is the most adorable thing ever!!

Seriously I may be blogger illiterate!! I have tried and tried to post on Christmas and have not been able to make it work yet!
